Day 2 Adventures

Our second day in Uganda (Saturday) started off with a shower outside. It was really nice! Then we met Lucy, and she was SO cute 😊. She loved the snapchat filters.

We explored the hotel and took some pictures before we had breakfast. At breakfast, we were asked how we wanted our coffee, and so this time we decided to try African, which means that it's prepared with milk. When Gift was asked how he wanted his coffee, he said, "Well, if you are having African, then I will have mine white", which we thought was pretty funny.

After checking out of the hotel, we decided to go to Lake Mburo National Park, which had a safari! I have tons of safari pictures, so I will make a separate post with all of those. We had a late lunch of chicken, rice, and chapati (pictured below) and headed back to Kampala.

On the way, we stopped at a gas station to use the bathrooms (called wash rooms here), and when we got out of the car a little girl was pointing at me. I smiled at her, and she ran over to me and touched my hand without saying anything. Then she giggled and smiled. It was so cute. I assumed that she had never seen a white person before. Besides on the safari that we took that day and two men at a different gas station, I haven't seen any other white people.

We made a stop at Engineering Ministries International (EMI), which was a place that Will had stopped at  on Thursday before dad and I arrived. We dropped off a few things and met Tal, Trent, and Timothy. Tal and Trent were interns right out of colleges in the US, and Timothy was an intern from Uganda. We saw a band playing drums in the back of a truck and they smiled and waved at us. I slept most of the way back. I find myself falling asleep in the car quite often, which is funny because sometimes we're on such bumpy roads. We usually have coffee in the mornings, but it's not like there is a Starbucks we can just drive through to grab some quick caffeine 😂. However, the guys did wake me up when we reached the equator! I can now say that I've stood directly on the equator. We hit traffic and did not reach our new hotel until late on Saturday.

This hotel was the the best one yet! When I got out of the car, the attendant bowed and said "Good evening, madam", and then he wouldn't let me take my bags to my room. Another attendant named Suubi took dad's bags out of his hand and said, "I'm sorry sir, we don't allow guests to take their bags". We were being treated like kings and queens 😅. They even let us order dinner at 10:30 when the kitchen was pretty much closed. I will post more pictures of the hotel later!
